Balancing Act

I feel like I've been off to a good start with blogging. It seems like I'm getting an outfit post in roughly every other day, which isn't too shabby. However, with the new semester rolling in on Tuesday, there's no doubt in my mind that will change. I'm going to try to post as often as possible, and that goes for outfit posts as well. However, I'm going to be rather busy, and blogging is fairly time consuming. I suppose this will really be the test of my time management skills. I'm usually on top of things, but I do have a pretty semester ahead of me.

Anyway, it was fairly gloomy out today (typical Northern California weather), but beautiful none the less. I almost thought the rain would prohibit a quick photo shoot, but luckily it was really only a drizzle.
Today was definitely a mish-mash of clothing pairings. I sort of grabbed whatever I felt like wearing and put it on. I feel like it went together. I of course had to throw on the thrifted bag and booties because I honestly feel a little guilty when I don't wear anything thrifted. I really would like to own more pieces from thrift stores.

I like the way the shots turned out today--some of them feel pretty cinematic. As a film student, how can I not love that? I especially love what the rain and general climate in Northern California do to my hair. Back home in the Southern part of the state my hair feels pretty flat.

So anyway, as a quick little add on, these photos were taken in a quiet little spot on my campus, where I often go when I need some alone time. There are some neat sculptures, and the overall feeling is quite serene.

Anyway folks, I am exhausted. If you have Monday off school or work, I hope you have a nice relaxing day.

All in a Hoot

It's not really my intention to do a lot of the shoots inside. However, this time I waited too long, forgetting how early it gets dark right now. It's too bad, today's sky was clear. It's been raining every other day here. Don't get me wrong though, I love the rain. It's one of my favorite parts of being in Northern California. Once I actually make it outside again I will without a doubt make sure to highlight the nature up here.

I feel like I should properly introduce my little owl friend, who goes most places with me. He was an early Christmas gift from Keaton from a little local store called Essence of Humboldt (I've linked their facebook page because they don't have an actual website). Every time we passed by the store window, I stopped and stared at the owls. They're just so cute, but definitely a little on the pricey side (at least for me-haha). One day we passed by, and I noticed they had a green owl, and it caught my attention even more. Despite the price tag, I decided I would buy it. Keaton and I went back to the store a few days later, and just as I was about to pay for the bag, he jumped in and bought it for me. It's definitely become more of a friend than a bag. I've even named him Elrond. I'm not really a bag person. Honestly, I have fewer than five. I don't really see a reason to buy more when I have Elrond though.

The One That Started It All

So here we go, my very first outfit post, and, for that matter, my very first real post. It's somewhere between exciting and nerve racking. During the shoot, I dragged Keaton (my partner) around everywhere until we found a spot I felt comfortable with. I'll admit, I was being a little ridiculous. I wanted there to be absolutely no one else around. Hopefully I'll start feeling more comfortable soon.

I thought that I would spend a lot of time trying to figure out what to wear for this first post, but surprisingly that wasn't the case. It was actually an outfit Keaton helped me pick out, and one I feel more than comfortable in. It's typical me.

I can't decide what my favorite part of this outfit it...the skirt is rather adorable and taps into my owl obsession which is quite prominent in my life. So far I've posted two things on this blog and both have featured owls. I don't know why or when they became such a defining factor in my life, but so it goes.

I'll be posting again soon, I promise. I'm going to try and post as frequently as possible.
